You Won’t Even Need to Get Off the Couch for the ‘Sailor Moon’ Film Premier

Netflix continues conquering the world of anime (and our hearts) with the latest film from the Sailor Moon franchise. You can catch it on the streaming platform when it premiers this summer.

The two-part film, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal, which already showcased back in January and February in Japan, centers on the “Dream” arc of creator Naoko Takeuchi’s original manga series. The Chiaki Kon-directed film will primarily focus on the Sailor Guardians, as well as the relationship between Chibi-Usa and Helios as they face off against the mysterious Dead Moon Circus troupe

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal is Netflix’s latest addition to its ever-growing anime slate. Last  month, the streaming platform committed to launching 40 anime titles in 2021 alone, which puts animation as the likely new front line in the ongoing streaming wars.

Snagging the international premiere for the cult film is no small feat. Ever since it first released in 1991, Naoko Takeuchi’s epic has become the most popular manga series of all time with an equally fervent viewership for its corresponding anime.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal arrives on June 3, 2021. You can watch the trailer below.
