Aimed at encouraging shoppers to embrace the natural world and their adventurous spirit, FILA is introducing its ‘Explore’ collection with an interactive pop-up that presents visceral interpretations of each of the outdoor environments that the collection is based on — Canyon, Mountains, Woods, and Elements.
Inspired by Reinhold Messner’s summit of Mount Everest in 1978, the limited-edition Explore collection features a range of footwear, apparel, and accessories designed to celebrate the modern explorer, and seeing as how a tradition for adventure is part of FILA’s heritage, it makes sense for the brand to embrace a new generation of seekers at the intersection of sport and style.
The pop-up, which runs from July 26 – August 11 at 428 Broadway in SoHo, will have dedicated installations guiding visitors through eco-zones ranging from Canyons, Mountains, Woods, and culminating in Elements. Additionally, FILA Explore pop-ups will open the same day in Los Angeles and globally in London, China, Japan, India, and Greece to drive awareness around the collection.
“With Explore pop-up shops opening worldwide, we also have an opportunity to engage consumers with a one-of-a-kind experience and our authentic approach to storytelling,” explained Louis W. Colon III, FILA North America’s VP of heritage and trend, in a press release.
Additional programming at the FILA Explore NYC pop-up will also include two panel experiences in July and August, both open to the public, to discuss owning the adventurous spirit and venturing out of their comfort zone, as well as the rise of the urban explorer aesthetic in fashion.
Panel 1: Owning the Adventurous Spirit
Date: Saturday, July 27 – 2PM
Location: 428 Broadway
Panelists: Louis W. Colon III, Bianca Valle, Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins
Moderator: Jian DeLeon, Highsnobiety
The first panel will discuss what it’s like to pursue an adventurous spirit and explore new facets of culture, whether across state lines or international locations that aren’t typically on top of everyone’s list.
Panel 2: The Proliferation of the Explorer in Fashion
Date: Saturday, August 10 – 2PM
Location: 428 Broadway
Panelists: Louis W. Colon III, Bloody Dior, Nicole McLaughlin
Moderator: Jeff Carvalho, Highsnobiety
The second panel will open a dialogue for panelists to explore and discuss the steady influence of the technical urban explorer aesthetic in fashion over the past few years with myriad examples to draw from: Alyx x ROA, Arrivals x Highsnobiety, Heron x Carhartt, Stone Island Shadow Project, Woolrich Rebrand, & FILA Explore.

Double Up With Ralph! 7/12
Ralph Lauren is, has, and from its proven track record it will continue to be a staple for clean essentials from business wear to casual.
Most are very well aware of the iconic “Polo” renditions. Although as of lately the understandably more pricier “RRL” collections have been catching major wave and is expected to have a major resurge in popularity.
Fashioned and styled in what I can only describe as a post WW2 time capsule, the 2019 summer collection for “Double RL” features garments made of 100% cotton for comfort and breathability that will get you through this hot summer. As well as pieces such as their Boondock Sued Boot (featured below) with leather so supple I’ve made arrangements to have a couch fitted with it.
Whether the weather, Ralph Lauren has got you covered with premium wear for his and her. Which come to think of it only seems right considering the brand name…

“Work in progress” is an all to well known terminology for creatives and artist alike. To embody such an idea sensibly enough to be a fashionable piece of must have footwear can only have been inspired by the tinkerer himself.
Fashioned in a scribbled university red color-way and accented with Tinker’s “annotations” have made these shoes a must have for any true Air Max fan. The uppers feature a simple mesh, while the usual branding of the “Air Max” in the rear heel have been replaced by Tinker’s signature along with the date of completion for the “Sketch To Yourself” pack.
Personally, I’m not sure which to reach for regarding Tinker Hatfield’s introduction into infamy. Whether it be his iconic design for Micheal Jordan’s retro 3 or damn near Every Air Max ever! He dishes out gems to this day that have and will continue inspire and provide exceptional performance for generations to come.
In retrospect (pun intended.) considering Hatfields impeccable work ethic, his blueprints for shoe excellence deserves to be put on display in a museum. I guess us sneaker heads will make do sporting his genius around town, ten toes down!
manier x Embellish ?
Brand new images of hand stitched and curated denim by manier brand’s very own Maximillian Manier have surfaced!
Being the innovator of the renound- “self titled-seasonal wear” alone has mapped out a sure fire and trail blazing route to atop any list of up and coming designers.
His designs include reworked masterpieces which mainly consist of Levi’s Brand denim, although there has been verifiable accounts (as well as the D.S.D exclusive pictures we’ve featured below!) of Maximillian working on mock ups with what some have identified as Embellish Denim. Which may have surfaced on either’s social media accounts (links below).
Maybe it’s the ever-changing names, or maybe it’s the superior hand craftsmanship that will forever be synonymous with either brands. One thing is for certain is that regardless of the times or collab at hand, Manier is a force to recognize and reckon with. I’d keep a close look out for a chance to snag any limited production pieces for the up and coming 2020’s!
