Get Inside the Mind of Gorillaz Legend Jamie Hewlett With Taschen

Published

on

From co-creating the iconic punk-inspired comic Tank Girl to working on live-action animations for Gorillaz and the 2008 Beijing Olympics, illustrator Jamie Hewlett releases his first major monograph with Taschen, featuring more than 400 pieces of work.

The designer has maintained a steady career since his emergence in the mid-1990s. After the success of his early comics, Hewlett, with then-roommate Damon Albarn, went on to create the unique cartoon band Gorillaz, designing the animated characters in print and for live stages. In conjunction with the band’s success, the polymath artist has conducted work for the stage, television, film, and even a collaboration with ABSOLUT vodka.

With a recent exhibition of his prints running at Saatchi Gallery, London, this exclusive Taschen print is a must-have for those looking to inspire and expand their creative horizons.

In case you missed it, Damon Albarn from Gorillaz announces potential album release.

manier x Embellish ?

Published

Brand new images of hand stitched and curated denim by manier  brand’s very own Maximillian Manier have surfaced!

Being the innovator of the renound- “self titled-seasonal wear” alone has mapped out a sure fire and trail blazing route to atop any list of up and coming designers.

His designs include reworked masterpieces which mainly consist of Levi’s Brand denim, although there has been verifiable accounts (as well as the D.S.D exclusive pictures we’ve featured below!) of Maximillian working on mock ups with what some have identified as Embellish Denim. Which may have surfaced on either’s social media accounts (links below).

Maybe it’s the ever-changing names, or maybe it’s the superior hand craftsmanship that will forever be synonymous with either brands. One thing is for certain is that regardless of the times or collab at hand, Manier is a force to recognize and reckon with. I’d keep a close look out for a chance to snag any limited production pieces for the up and coming 2020’s!

Published

In case you were ever wondering what it’d be like to sit on a golden toilet made of Louis Vuitton bags, here’s your chance. Artist Illma Gore spent three months making a luxe can using 24 bags worth a grand total of $15,000. And the result? Surely one of the world’s most valuable toilets, right up there with Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain.

According to Vogue, materials for the work were found on designer resale site Tradesy, with the toilet now on display at the Tradesy showroom in Santa Monica, California. Best of all, you can even cop this potty if you’ve got a lazy $100,000 set aside for bathroom renovations.

While the deluxe throne is yet to be sat on, Gore said that “many have offered.”

In other news, Supreme’s insane FW17 accessories include an electric guitar, clippers and chopsticks.
