Faig Ahmed Reimagines Carpets as Surreal Masterpieces

Surrealism has mostly been attributed to the realm of the two-dimensional, especially when the eccentric and weird nature of the art style is considered. In Faig Ahmed‘s case, however, this generalization didn’t deter him as he drew upon carpets as canvases for intricate, stunning designs.
According to Ahmed, “A carpet is a kind of book which you can read if you know the words,” which may offer some explanation as to the extensive amount of symbolism behind each piece and various nods to ancient motives.
